Safeguarding African Foodsheds and Ecosystems for all Actors across Local, regional, and international Levels to manage migration
Agriculture sustains the livelihoods of over 2.5 billion people worldwide, yet rural farming communities—particularly in Africa—face increasing challenges due to climate change, extreme weather, and evolving market demands. While various services exist to support farmers, they often operate in isolation and primarily target large commercial enterprises. Smallholder farmers and rural communities require integrated, localized, and scalable solutions that address climate risks, food security, and migration pressures. Without coordinated efforts, the growing strain on food systems and natural resources could have far-reaching consequences, not just for Africa but globally.
SAFE4ALL Africa is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing climate resilience and food security across the African continent. Funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe program, this project brings together a consortium of experts to tackle the pressing challenges posed by climate change. Through innovative tools and collaborative efforts, SAFE4ALL strives to empower local communities and build a sustainable future.
In particular, SAFE4ALL addresses the challenges of migration from secondary cities to major urban centers in Africa and beyond. By strengthening climate resilience and adaptation measures, the project helps communities better withstand the effects of extreme weather events—such as droughts and floods—while also enhancing food security through supportive policies.
